BLOG EIGHTY 7

Good Day

Welcome back to another blog! As always, let’s begin with a thought:

“Success is not final; failure is not fatal; it’s the courage to continue that counts…”

A Week to Remember at Yarmouth

What a fantastic week we had at Yarmouth! We landed a double on the day and notched up our third winner from just three runners in seven days. It was a great moment for our loyal supporters at Quest Thoroughbreds, with Cathedral Peak and Lady Mariko both winning stylishly—just a few days after Gorgeous Mr George had also triumphed at the same track.

Big thanks to Jim Crowley, who gave two top-class rides, judging the pace to perfection, and to Kyle Strydom, who kept George focused to hold off the fast-finishing favourite under Ryan Moore. That win also gave us the honour of winning the final race called by Derek “Tommo” Thompson at Yarmouth—a special moment for everyone involved.

We also thank Jason Weaver from Sky Sports Racing, who gave our owners some lovely airtime. Many of them watched the races from Tattersalls, where we’re working hard to source future stars.

A New Star for Sale

Speaking of stars, we’ve just listed a beautiful filly by New Bay out of a Montjeu mare on our For Sale page. She’s superbly bred, and with New Bay proving himself at the top level, she’s the type who could be anything next year. Be sure to take a look—she won’t be around for long.

Summer Socials & Sales Season

On Saturday, we hosted a wonderful picnic at the Newmarket July Course, which was well attended by our owners in town for the races—plus a few welcome passers-by! We were perfectly positioned along the rail under the trees, and the fun continued well into the night.

After the incredible time we had at Royal Ascot, we weren’t sure if it could be topped—but Saturday certainly gave it a run for its money. We’re now looking ahead to organising another autumn picnic around sales time, so stay tuned!

The July Festival also brought a great buzz to Phantom House Stables, with many owners visiting over the weekend. We love seeing the yard so busy and sharing the experience with all of you.

Summer Sports Vibes

Of course, it wouldn’t be a UK summer without some fantastic Test Cricket. The South Africa vs Australia Test at Lord’s was a highlight, but the India vs England series has been non-stop entertainment—proof that Test cricket is alive and thriving.

On Sunday, the Newmarket Trainers XI took on Newmarket Cricket Club in a charity match. The weather was perfect, the crowd was buzzing, and the trainers… well, we lost again! But spirits were high, and the day was filled with entertainment, kids’ activities, and camaraderie.

Racing Recap & What’s Ahead

Our stable star Prague ran a solid race to finish 4th in the Group 2 Summer Mile at Ascot. He handled the fast ground well enough but will be one to watch when the rain returns—he’s definitely coming back to his best.

Looking ahead, Kamakameleon lines up in the £250k Super Sprint at Newbury this Saturday. He’s been in excellent form since his 5th in the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot, and we’re hopeful of another big performance.

We’re also gearing up for the Racing League, proudly representing Team East again. It kicks off at Yarmouth—where we got a win for the team last year—and we’ve got some strong entries lined up. The prize money is excellent, and we hope to be back in that winner’s enclosure soon.

Our Year-Round Commitment

At our yard, we push hard all year round. From a busy All-Weather Team in winter, to flat-out summer turf racing, and a Dubai campaign in the mix—we’re now planning to run teams in both Dubai and Bahrain alongside our full UK operation.

This takes meticulous planning, an amazing team, and unwavering support from our owners. Sometimes I have to pause and reflect on what we’ve accomplished in such a short time—and just feel grateful.

Sales Season: Let’s Find Your Next Winner

With the yearling and horses-in-training sales approaching fast, we’ll be attending all the key sales. If you’re not already signed up, now’s the time to get involved.

Our pedigree expert Luiz Cunha (@pedigree_to_win) will be pouring over catalogues, and our form man Jordan Hopkins (Jordan Hopkins Bloodstock) will be out scouting proven performers. I spend countless hours walking the sales grounds with them, ensuring we secure the best value for our owners.

We’ve built something really special—and we’re only just getting started.

“Failure is not the opposite of success, it’s part of success.”

Until next time, take care and thank you for being on this journey with us.

Kind Regards,
